The terms “dedicated server” and “root server” are often used interchangeably in the IT industry and refer to similar concepts. With a dedicated server, you get exclusive access to a physical server. At netcup, VPS and root servers are virtualized servers with root access. While CPU performance cannot be guaranteed with a VPS, a root server combines the advantages of dedicated servers and virtualized servers: A root server is guaranteed the specified CPU performance, and – thanks to virtualization – you can also create snapshots and manage the server via a control panel, just as with a VPS.

The RS 12000 and RS 16000 plans are available at the following locations. Please specify the location in your inquiry using the form above.

The “No Preference – Europe” option is the most affordable choice. With this option, you cannot specify the exact location, but your server will be set up exclusively in a European data center (e.g., Vienna or Nuremberg), depending on available capacity.

Choose between a minimum contract term of one, twelve, or 24 months. The longer the contract term, the more you’ll save each month compared to the monthly billing option.

In general, upgrades within the same product generation up to RS 8000 can be performed via the Customer Control Panel (CCP).

For the RS 12000 and RS 16000 plans, an upgrade is not automatically possible. Please use the support form to discuss your specific situation.

Yes. You’ll receive a full refund of the base fee within 30 days of your first order using our “satisfaction guarantee”.

Yes. After setting up your server, you can add the following network add-ons. Please note that you must order the add-ons at the same location where your server was set up.

Our root server plans come with a minimum annual average uptime of 99.9%. If you’d like even more protection, you can add SLA+ as an optional service.

No, the RS 12000 and RS 16000 plans are not managed products. This means that you are responsible for managing your virtual server yourself. You’ll have root access and are therefore solely responsible for configuring, maintaining, updating, and securing your server.
