1. What Does a Quota Suspension Mean in Web Hosting?

A quota is the maximum amount of storage space included in your web hosting plan. If you use more storage than is included in your plan, this is called a quota overage.

Even if you use up all of your available storage space, uploads will not stop immediately. The system will temporarily allow further uploads until the overage is detected, at which point the web hosting will be automatically blocked. This protects files and applications from damage.

2. How Will I Be Informed About a Quota Suspension?

Our system will notify you via email about your storage space usage:

  • You will receive a warning via email when you have used 80% of your storage space.
  • If you exceed the limit , your hosting will be temporarily blocked. You will also receive an abuse notice via email.

3. What Do I Need to Do to Remove the Suspension?

Before your product can be reactivated, you must clean up your system and submit a statement. To do so, you can request a maintenance window during which your product will be reactivated for a limited period of time.

Please note that all communication must take place exclusively through the designated field (Statement) in the Customer Control Panel (CCP). Feedback sent via email, ticket, or phone will not be considered.

Requesting a Maintenance Window

  1. Log in to the Customer Control Panel (CCP).
  2. Go to the Abuse Notices menu item.
  3. Request a maintenance window using the Statement field. Please note the following:
    • Maintenance windows can be scheduled at any time.
    • However, requests for maintenance windows can only be processed Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (Europe/Berlin).
    • A notice period of at least 2 hours is required.
    • All times must be specified in the Europe/Berlin time zone.
    • f your request is submitted outside of processing hours, the setup will take place on the next business day.
    • Without a specific time slot (date and time), no maintenance window can be set up. Immediate activation is not possible.

Cleaning the System and Resolving the Issue

  1. Once your maintenance window has been activated, perform the necessary system cleanup steps and resolve the issue that caused the suspension. This includes, for example:
    • Freeing up storage space : Delete any unnecessary data from your web hosting until you are back below the quota limit.
    • Upgrading your product : If you require more storage space on a permanent basis, you can upgrade to a higher plan.
    • Implementing appropriate security measures.
  2. If you are unsure which steps are required, contact a qualified professional you trust. Please note that we cannot offer support in analyzing the cause or resolving the issue.

Submitting Statement

Once you have completed the steps above, open the abuse notice again in the Customer Control Panel (CCP) and submit your response.

Make your response as detailed and complete as possible to avoid follow-up questions and ensure quick processing.

Include the following points in your statement:

  • Cause of the Compromise
Provide a clear explanation of how the security incident occurred.
  • Identified Security Vulnerability
Explain which specific vulnerability was exploited (e.g., outdated software, insecure login details, or a vulnerable third-party plugin).
  • Cleanup Measures Taken
Provide a detailed list of the steps you took to clean up the system.
  • Removal of Malicious Content
Explicitly confirm that all malicious files, scripts, and redirects have been completely removed.
  • Future Security Measures
Describe the measures you will take in the future to secure your system long-term and prevent similar incidents.

Processing by the Responsible Department

The responsible department handles abuse cases Monday through Friday , from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CET), except on public holidays.

For emergencies outside of these hours, contact our emergency support service at +49 721/75407555 (€40/15 minutes).

The department has a response time of minimum 2 hours. If you submit your statement on Monday at 7:00 p.m., for example, you will receive a response by Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the latest.

4. How Can I Identify What Is Taking Up a Lot of Storage Space?

In the Webhosting Control Panel (WCP) , you can see which files and applications are taking up your storage space under the menu item Statistics.

To get a more accurate picture, you can calculate the size of your folders under Files. To do so, select the relevant folders and click on More > Calculate size.

5. Freeing Up Storage Space

Adjust the Size of the Log Files to Be Stored

You can adjust the amount and size of the log files to be stored for each domain in the Webhosting Control Panel (WCP) under Logs > Log Rotation.

However, we recommend checking the logs first to see if there are any errors that need to be fixed. If an error occurs frequently, it can lead to large log files.

Alternatively, you can also empty the logs under /logs. To do so, delete all lines in the respective log file. Important: Deleting the log file itself does not help, as it will automatically be recreated with the same size.

Configure Backups Correctly

If a backup is taking up too much storage space, you can manage your backups in the Backup Manager.

Make sure that the maximum number of files stored for full backups (applies to both scheduled and manual backups) is not set too high. If necessary, delete previous manually created backups and select the option to create incremental backups.

Check Plugin/WordPress Backups

If you use WordPress or similar applications, check the backup settings there as well, as these take up separate storage space.

6. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Scripts that are executed via scheduled tasks (cron jobs) continue to run despite the suspension.

No. If you upgrade your web hosting package, you will receive additional storage space, but the suspension will remain in place until you have submitted a statement (via CCP > Abuse Notices) and the responsible department manually removes the suspension.
