Using SOGo With Thunderbird

Learn how to connect your SOGo instance to Thunderbird in order to access emails, calendars, and address books directly.

1. Setting Up Email

Open Settings

  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Click on the menu at the top right and select New Account.
  3. Select Email.
  4. Alternatively, you can also click on Settings > Account Settings.
  5. Select Account Actions > Add Mail Account.

Enter Data

  1. Enter your name, email address and password and click Continue.
  2. If it is not already preselected, select IMAP and click on Done.
  3. The setup is complete.

If your mail server is not recognized automatically, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the details of your SOGo instance in the Customer Control Panel (CCP).
  2. Select the Mailboxes tab.
  3. Select the email address you want to set up and click on the key icon.
  4. A window will open with the access data you need for the setup.
  5. Click on Set up manually in Thunderbird.
  6. Enter the access data (host name, username, port, key) as displayed in the Customer Control Panel.
  7. Click on Done.
  8. The setup is complete.

2. Setting Up Calendar

Open Calendar

  1. Open the Calendar by clicking the icon at the top left.
  2. Click on New Calendar at the bottom left.
  3. Select On the Network and click Next.

Enter Data

  1. Enter your username (= Email address).
  2. Enter your location: https://yoururl-tld.netcup-mail.de/SOGo/dav.
  3. Click on Find Calendars.
  4. Enter your password and click OK.
  5. Select the calendars you want to synchronize and click on Subscribe.
  6. The setup is complete.

3. Setting Up Contacts

Open Address Book

  1. Open the Address Book by clicking the icon at the top left.
  2. Click on the icon to the left of New Contact and select Add CardDAV Address Book.

Enter Data

  1. Enter your username (= Email address).
  2. Enter your location: https://yoururl-tld.netcup-mail.de/SOGo/dav.
  3. Select which address books you want to add from those available.
  4. Click on Continue.
  5. The setup is complete.

Success

You have successfully connected your SOGo account to Thunderbird. You now have direct access to all SOGo functions, including webmail, calendars, and address books.
