As part of our sponsorship activities, we support selected initiatives. In doing so, we contribute to the further development of an open, sustainable, and high-performance infrastructure.

We are happy to support nonprofit projects and initiatives with hosting, servers, and domains, and we promote innovation, the exchange of knowledge, and an open, sustainable infrastructure.

Apache CouchDB

Apache CouchDB is a database management system that takes data security very seriously. To ensure that CouchDB runs correctly and quickly everywhere, it features a large number of different test environments. This would not be possible without Netcup’s support, and we are very grateful for it.

Sponsorship Priorities at netcup

netcup supports selected projects and events that promote innovation, strengthen communities, and contribute to an open, high-performing, and responsible digital world. Our focus here is on the following project groups.

  • Tech, Open-Source, and Community Projects

Supporting developer communities, open-source initiatives, meetups, hackathons, and maker and DIY projects with infrastructure such as VPS, root servers, storage, and domains to promote innovation, collaboration, and an open digital culture.

  • Education & Youth Development

Supporting students and emerging talent by sponsoring college groups, coding clubs, learning platforms, CTFs, and workshops to strengthen technical knowledge and future IT skills in a sustainable way.

  • Sustainable & Responsible Digital Infrastructure

Support for projects that focus on the efficient, privacy-friendly, and sustainable use of digital infrastructure, thereby contributing to a long-term open and responsible IT landscape.

Exclusion Criteria

netcup supports a wide range of projects; however, we can only sponsor initiatives that align with our ethical or business objectives. Requests in the following categories will therefore be declined.

  • Recreational sports and clubs with no IT connection
  • Projects and events that harm the environment (e.g., motorsports)
  • Projects and events that pose a potential health risk (e.g., extreme sports and combat sports)
  • Unethical projects or events with little social benefit
  • Individual and private events
  • Political party events and projects
  • Religious movements and institutions, church congregations
  • Multimedia productions (e.g., DVDs, CDs, film productions, etc.)
  • Cultural events
  • Projects or events that are not compatible with netcup’s values and positioning

FAQ

Netcup generally provides technical services such as hosting, servers, and domains.

Your project should be clearly described and demonstrate a clear need for the requested services.

A direct connection is not strictly required; however, it should be clear that the technical services are being used in a meaningful way.

We review each inquiry on a case-by-case basis, focusing in particular on its value, feasibility, and alignment with our services.

As part of our sponsorship activities, we support selected initiatives, particularly in the areas of tech and development communities, education and the promotion of young talent, and open source.

Since we receive many inquiries and can only support a limited number of projects, unfortunately there is no guarantee of sponsorship. However, each inquiry is carefully and individually reviewed.

We’ll get back to you as soon as possible. However, since we review each inquiry individually and receive a large number of them, this process may take a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

An extension is possible, but it will also be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
